Personal summary

Kai Edwards is a 23 year old Nonbinary interdisciplinary Fine Artist. Born in Surrey, they studied at Manchester School of Art where they received a 1st Class degree in BA Hons Fine Art . Kai Edwards’ work uses Queer ecological theory to explore uncanny forms that mimic both nature and the human body and in turn the subversion of western heteronormative values. With a fungal muse, Kai’s work provides an example of more-than-human, nonbinary modes of existence alongside the natural world to forge a kinship between humanity and mycelial networks. Their ventures have taken them to London Fashion week, interning with designers Vin + Omi on their shows STING, FUTURE FLOWERS & PLANET REWIND Helping harvest and create fibres + textiles out of nettles from Highgrove House and recycling clothing for their fashion collections. Also taking part as a designer for Collateral – British Textiles Biennial alongside Artist Brigid McLeer.
